Sam Crutchfield reports:  Here’s a pic of 9 yr old Beau Crutchfield’s 1st king caught Sat at the Dale Ward reef. Caught on a live pogey using a Capt Brant live bait rig. Beau fishes out of Saucepan Creek when not stuck in school in Raleigh. Thanks OIFC for keeping us rigged up. 3 more days of school then we’ll see you back on the water!

In the 2nd picture, Sean Morris of the OIFC reports:  David Watts, Joey Rhodes and Ronnie McLertal aboard the "Kind and I" brought in a 35lb Mahi caught around the black jack area. He was caught on a green skirted ballyhoo.

The final pictures are of fishing at the inlet Don Snyder son Chad and grandson Brad from High
Point N.C.

"Recent Team OIFC trip " | OIFC | 06/02/13

Capt. Barrett, Rickey Beck and I took a recent morning Cobia run early this week and ran across a few to keep our lines tight.  We were fillming an episode for the new OIFC No Limits fishing show and it went just like we scripted.

You can watch this show Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturay on ATMC TV at 2:30 and 7:30pm.  One episode will play for 2 weeks and then a new one will air.  The first show came out just before Memmorial weekend and the next one will come out I think the 17th of June -- It is a little rough, but Barrett and I are learning what it takes to be movie stars.

CLICK HERE TO WATCH FIRST SHOW

Below are some pics from our last shoot.  Show to air in coming weeks.

Really enjoyed watching the first show, can't wait to watch more.

Salty Daze 06/03/2013

Just watched the 1st show of No Limits Fishing, it was great. Shared alot of information about different styles and techniques and then showed the results. Look forward to the next show.

ATMC TV is now available on OIB. If you have Time Warner you probably don't need any other incentive to change your provider, but if you want to switch to ATMC-TV; tell them you want to be able to watch OIFC's No Limits Fishing show.

"JEFF BELL'S First MAHI MAHI" | Real-Time Update | 06/02/13

I would be completely remiss if I didn't share the big story from Monday's Gulfstream trip aboard Matt Dowdy's 22 Cobia ... We headed out early (5:00AM Monday) from Shallotte Inlet for the 100/400 area. It was another beautiful day on the water, and we anticipated a safe Float Plan. I had my lures all set (mostly "greenees" with Small Ballyhoo), and just after arriving in the 100/400 area, we were on the Mahi. Before the day was over, we boated a dozen good-sized Mahi and almost one Black Fin; no sooner than I deployed that Blue/White Tuna Feather, it was hit hard, and Jeff was fighting to keep the fish. But, suddenly I saw the Blackfin sky, and spit the hook. Boy, we really wanted that one! However, we went on to find a packed Weed Line, which yielded an unexpected hot afternoon bite. After boating the "Dirty Dozen" (Mahi), we called it a day! Matt. Jeffrey Bell, and myself had another day to remember! Check out some of the great pics! Dr. T reporting for OIFC

"Citation COBIA" | Real-Time Update | 06/01/13

Captain Steele said on the dock yesterday, "Terry you must be living right, catching all these fish." It does seem kind of strange, since Captain William Parker was simply trying to catch some Pogeys just West of the Shallotte Buoy. There they were, two large Cobia milling around the Menhadin. I grabbed my offshore spinner, attached a Pogey, pitched the bait, set the hook, and the fight was on. This big guy didn't want to come to the boat, so we had to tussle for a while, but patience prevailed, and Captain William gaffed him. I just finished eating some freshly cooked Cobia, the first of the year. It looks like everyone is catching them, and no matter what you are fishing for, you can certainly be on the lookout for these fish. Be ready! We have the right lures and hooks at OIFC; come and get'em. After running some Pogeys at the 390's to see if any Kings were around, we got tired of catching those irritating Dog Sharks; we moved in closer, and then we started catching a bunch of Spanish, especially at the mouth of Lockwood Folly Inlet. Captain William loves some Spanish! We had another good day on the water, and it didn't cost us a full month's retirement check! Dr. T reporting for OIFC

"Kings showing up" | OIFC | 06/01/13

Report of kings being caught yesterday at the Shark Hole. Also 4 were caught at Ocean Crest Pier[biggest 38lbs]. The water is crystal clear, beach full of pogies, pogy schools full of blues/spanish,  90's full of greenies...what does that tell you. 2 weeks till what promises to be the biggest best Jolly Mon King tourney ever. Make your plans now; June 14-16.

Toes-Up 06/01/2013

For the the working anglers this is GREAT news. Thank you for keeping us working (land locked) folks up to date!!

"Widespread" | Hail Yeah / OIFC | 05/31/13

I got a chance to hop on board the infamous "Widespread"  with Nesbitt Noble, Eddie Julian and Gregory Lane on a grouper mission.  We loaded up with pogies on the west side of Shallotte Inlet in 12' of water and were on our way by 6:30 am.  Our goal was to see what was biting in 100' of water.  We tried several areas picking up a couple of scamps and feeding the 3-4 pound seabass.  Around 11:30 the bite picked up and we caught 7 more scamps and a gag.  The bite lasted about an hour and shut back down.  We did not see any kings, cobia or mahi and the scattered weed would make trolling difficult at best.

The good news for tomorrow is the opening of the seabass. The seabass were thick and it was hard to get a live bait passed them.  Seabass are a ton of fun to catch and a great way to introduce a kid to bottom fishing.  Stop by the store before you head offshore and be sure to pick up plenty of hooks, sinkers and squid.

Good luck
