"Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish classic Saturday Weigh In" | Catch All | 06/11/16

The Hatterascal out of Fl. just weighed in a 336 lb blue marlin. Right now he is in 3rd with a $90,000 fish. The Insetta boat pictured below weighed in one yesterday and is in 2nd. However because he did not enter all the Clcuttas his earnings are well below the  Haterascal  +++4:45pm update  the Cut and Run with a lady angler weighed in a 503.6 lb marlin to move into 3rd place worth $40k  The meat fish, dolphin, wahoo and tuna are donated to "One Meal" to feed the homeless  the carcuses are taken to the local zoo and fed to the animals so there is zero waste

"Jolly Mon King forecast" | OIFC | 06/11/16

Everyone is starting to get foscused on Jolly Mon next week. Here's what we[I] see now and my guess of what occurs going forward.

The water is still a little milky from the storm and you have to go 40+ miles to find good water color. That has impacted king fishing at normal spots for this time of the year. There are a few small Kings being caught at Shark Hole, but water color is negatively impacting the fishing.

HOWEVER; the wind is supposed to go to SW in front of a cold front that will come thru Sunday night. Winds will go north Monday and then back to south/southwest Tuesday and settle into a normal summer pattern. 2 goods things will be the result. The SW winds will bring in better water color to the 65 foot areas, and with the settling of the weather and  steady air pressure, this is what the Kings like. THUS: by tourney time, expect the Kings to be back where they are supposed to be, and the contest will be pretty much the same as always; which 65 foot spot will claim the winner? All the normal spots should be in play.

Good luck to everyone and we will keep you updated on what we see this coming week on the water.

"Dynamic Duo" | Do Work / OIFC | 06/10/16

i may be on post in Biloxi but I still have spies in Ocean Isle. Thus I'm able to report Brandon Sauls & Clay Morphis had a great day in the local waters. They had a couple cobia, which were released due to the new fishing regulations and several reds including a SCDNR tagged drum

"Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic-Friday" | Do Work / OIFC | 06/10/16

The crew of the OIFC, Pelagic, Yamaha, 39'Yellowfin aka "Sweet Pickle" just docked at the Port Eades outpost on the Gulf Coast at the Mississippi River.  They fished all afternoon yesterday, last night and today   Capt Jeff said they has a white marlin release and two yellowfin tunas. All caught on live bait. Might I add, is young Brayden McMullan a trooper or what? Meanwhile I have kept constant alert at the MGM Golden Nugget's casino, pool and workout room

"Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic-Saturday" | Do Work / OIFC | 06/10/16

As many know I had the honor, & pleasure to be invited to accompany the Ocean Isle Fishing Center's Capt Brant McMullan, Capt. Chris Dew and his fine son and excellent OIFC 1st Mate Aaron Dew on a pre fishing expedition for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic. Our mission was to tow the OIFC 39' Pelagic, Yamaha Yellowfin thru the approaching tropical storm safely to Biloxi, Mississippi   Then we would fish various locations in an attempt to locate bait, Blackfin tuna, which is also bait, yellowfin tuna and hopefully the blue marlin.  I'm pleased to say we were successful!!  Aaron even hooked up on a monster marlin using a kingfish  set up. Ask how did that work out Then on Wednesday Capt Chris and Aaron flew back to the OIFC to run charters. I stayed behind to hold down the fort at the Golden Nugget while Capt Brant, Capt Barrett McMullan, Brayden McMullan, Capt Jeff Beck, Brian Aycock and Scott Smith, nephew of the great  Arthur Smith (Arthur Smith Kingfish Tournaments) took over the duties of actually fishing the Tournament.  I cannot express my gratitude to the McMullans for all they have done for me and my family over the years. Pam loved them as much as I do. I have several posts chronicling our adventures. Good luck, God speed & Tight Lines Team OIFC!!!

"Mississippi Gulf Coast Billlfish Classic-Wednesday" | Do Work / OIFC | 06/09/16

Wednesday of our prefishing for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Billfish Classic. We checked out of Port Eads and made the run past Venice, up the Mississippi and back to Biloxi to meet up with the tournament fishing team.  Our job prefishing is done. I must say we were successful in locating, hooking up with and in some cases landing yellowfin and blue marlin.  I enjoyed my time with a fun and competent crew consisting of Capt Brant McMullan, Capt Chris Dew and 1st mate (ought to be a Captain) Aaron Dew. They flew back to the Ocean Isle Fishing Center and I stayed behind as a land source.  They made me tough it out by staying at the Golden Nugget. Lol
