Thank ya'll for fishing with us folks!!
Fun day on the water with Capt. Jeff Beck, 1st Mates Camdyn Beck & Amanda Bennette and Steve Lanier. We had a hard time finding bait...making a run from the Shallotte Inlet to the Little River Jetties, asking the Getaway Dolphin Boat Captain Michelle Drake to spot for us west of the jetties and finally finding pogies in 7 ft deep water in front of the Oak Island Light House. A Capt. Brant's Custom net made short order of getting the bait in the boat. We then made a short run to the Lighthouse Rocks and simply spanked the spanish mackerel. The biggest was a 5.6 lb and the smallest was 4.1 lbs. Since everyone had places to be we pulled lines and made way to the OIFC. Check out our Facebook page for more pictures...We had plenty of cameras on board.
Capt. Jeff Williamson reported a good flounder bite inside this morning. A glimmer of hope that things are picking up for the flounder on the backwater scene. The redfish bite remains steady and are the #1 target on our charters. We have boated some nice flounder and trout as we have been searching for the reds. The backwater is still dirty from freshwater runoff, wind blown surf, and constant boat traffic making the bite difficult at times. Regardless of these conditions, this is what we do for a living and we work hard to find the fish. Here are some of the highlights from the last few days of action. See ya on the water.
Just wanted to remind everyone know that Sheriff Ingram's 2nd Annual Flatfish Roundup is just around the corner. The tournament is August 10, and will be held at Southport Marina. This tournament allows inshore and ocean fishing. For further information, check out the tournament website. www.sheriffjohningram.com/flatfishroundup.
Last year at the First Annual Cy's World Tournament my boat was raffled off and bought by Liz and Bob Newell.
Today I took them on their trip and we managed to catch 4 - 5 trout at the jetties before running offshore flounder fishing.
Within 1 1/2 hours we had 7 keeper flounder - top three fish were 5.4, 4.7. and 4.6 pounds.

The 5.4 was caught by Liz Newell
4.7 by Bob Newell
4.6 by me
This jack crevalle was caught at the 70ft hole along with five kings. The angler was Holden DelosSantos of Inman SC. The other youth angler is Boyce Waters of Wellford Sc. The boat was captained by Frank Waters. This jack was Holdens first and the battle lasted upwards of an hour and has the blisters in his hand to prove it. It was the first kings caught by Boyce and the boat, Frank Waters owner of the new 2013 Sea hunt. Thanks to OIFC for the info to where the fish were holding. Thanks from Renny DelosSantos, captain of the Dirty Girl, Jolly Mon regular.
Two out of the 3 lovely Sauls' ladies pictured flounder fishing with their husband/dad , OIFC Pro Staffer Brandon Sauls today.
