The weather has been all over the place for the first week of November. The wind has been blowing 15kts plus on most days so far. The temperatures have been from 40 degrees to 80 degrees making a very unstable weather pattern. Despite the variations in temperature and gale force winds the redfish have been cooperating on most days. The speckled trout are here, but are not bunched up in any particular area yet. A few flat fish are still hanging around, but most are short of the keeper mark. If we can get some stable weather the speckled trout should come around and bite like bull dogs. See ya on the water!
The OIFC/Choice of Two has made it to Biloxi safely!!
Team OIFC/Get Floor'd has arrived safely in Biloxi..Good luck!!!
Here are some pictures by Shane Britt of Supply, N.C. of Biloxi so far. Also pictured is Billy Goss. Thx Shane
Pictured is Sarah Persuad and her 1st king. Sarah was fishing with her future husband Matt Holt aboard Matt's 27 Contender the "Gutsey". She was using pogeys as bait.
Team OIFC/Do Work Jr. Angler Camdyn tried her hand ts surf fishing yesterday since the Do Work is down for some maintenance. She was using a frozen pogey when this red drum decided it was hungry. Camdyn fought the fish with no help. After a quick picture the red was back on its way.
By the way...A customer told me he slow trolled frozen pogeys and caught kings. Never know!
Team OIFC getting a lay of the land in the Gulf. Today we found kings in the 25-35lb range- good fun. The WX is looking tuff but the show will go on as we prep for the nationals next week.
The Ocean Isle Fishing Center now has live shrimp for sale. They along with our quality mud minnows are happy, happy, happy under the loving eyes of Capt Rickey & U S Open 2nd pl Lady Angler Amanda.
What an unbelievable October we have experienced this year. The redfishing has been as good as I have ever seen. The big bull reds gave us some serious action for several weeks. A few are still hanging around, but I would imagine this next cold front will send them packing. The cooler weather should bring on the speckled trout action and the redfishing will fire off in the shallow creeks. The flounder fishing has seen many peeks and valleys with the nearshore reefs providing the best action. Don't miss an opportunity to experience the best fishing of the year. See ya on the water!
The OIFC now has live shrimp!!! If you want to be the hero of in shore fishing shrimp is the ticket. As was said in Forrest Gump:
"Lil" Billy who fishes with Tommy Helms is shown with a couple of the nice flounder he is known to catch at the near shore AR's.
The other picture is of Joshua Wallen with a citation trout he landed while fishing with the past OIFC Rodeo Angler of the Year Dr. Jeff Wallen.
