1. This is a three-day tournament with the option to fish either Friday May 27th, Saturday May 28th, or Sunday May 29th. 2. Entrants must declare a fishing day between March 12th and 7:00AM on Friday May 27th. You may declare your fishing day while registering or calling the tournament director at (704) 616-1615. 3. Once a participant has entered, he or she will receive a confirmation email stating they have paid in full and will be given their boat number. 4. Anglers may weigh two Cobia for an aggregate weight on their declared fishing day. However, anglers who only weigh one fish are still eligible for prizes in the overall category. Example: Boat 1 weighs two 30lb cobia for an aggregate of 60lbs. Boat 2 weighs in only one 80lb cobia. Boat 2 will be ranked in front of boat 1 due to its heavier overall weight. 5. Only one Spanish Mackerel and one King Mackerel may be weighed per boat. 6. Cobia must measure at least 33 inches from nose to fork, Spanish Mackerel must measure 13 inches, and King Mackerel must measure 28 inches in order to be eligible for prizes. 7. NO CHECK OUT – Fishermen may depart and return from any port between within the tournament boundaries. Tournament Boundaries are from Swansboro, NC to Georgetown, SC. You must be West of GPS line 76 55 00 and East of GPS line 79 10 00. Honor system – if you cheat you wont catch fish! 8. No mutilated fish will be weighed. A mutilated fish is one in which the injury impacts the fish’s ability to fight. Hook and gaff punctures are acceptable. 9. There is no captain’s meeting for this tournament. 10. Anglers are permitted to catch all eligible species at 7:00AM on the morning of their declared fishing day. 11. A boat may only participate once in the tournament. The same boat cannot participate a second or third day. The captain that fishes that boat may only be declared a captain once during the three-day tournament. 12. Boats eligible to weigh any eligible species in this tournament must be in the weigh-in line by 3:00 PM as confirmed by the check-in/cutoff boat. This boat’s location and description will be announced over the VHF tournament channel 72 at 2:30 on each day of the tournament. 13. Scales will open at noon each day of the tournament. All fish have to be weighed on the NC certified scales at the Ocean Isle Fishing Center. 14. Transfer of fish from one boat to another will not be allowed. Fish may not be transported across land either. 15. Boats participating in the tournament are not allowed to make landfall during fishing hours. If circumstances arise where a crewmember must be brought to land, the competing boat must not make landfall and the crew member exiting must not take any tournament oriented items with them including fish, bait, tackle, or fish bags. 16. The tournament director will monitor VHF Channel 72 for reports of any boat breaking rules stated on this list. Boats participating in the tournament are encouraged to tune listen to this channel while weigh-in occurs. 17. All TWT’s are paid out 1st, 2nd and 3rd and are based on the number of entries in each TWT. 18. After a team or competitor has weighed their fish, they are then responsible for transporting their fish back to their boat. 19. Boats participating are only eligible to to win one primary prize. 20. Insertion or attachment of foreign and/or lead products to a weighed fish will not be tolerated. If the tournament committee suspects a fish’s weight has been enhanced by insertion of an object, the stomach of the fish will be properly cut and inspected for enhancements. 21. Anglers who have been declared winners are subject to a polygraph test if directed by the tournament committee. Anglers chosen for the test must submit and consciously take a polygraph test with a designated and pre-authorized tester within 72 hours after the last fish has been weighed. This decision is at the sole discretion of the tournament committee. Should the test be failed or not taken within said time frame, the tournament committee reserves the right to forfeit all winnings awarded to winner in question. 22. Awards and prizes are issued solely on the individual or aggregate weight of the fish. 23. If two or more fish have the identical weight, the competitor that weighed their fish first will receive higher ranking than others that weighed identical fish that day. In addition, identical fish weighed on separate days follow the same rule. Example: If boat 1 weighs a 40lb fish on May 27th at 12:30pm and boat 2 weighs a 40lb fish at 12:05PM on May 28th, boat two will be ranked in front of boat 1. 24. Two or more boats congregating during competition may be disqualified. 25. All boats wishing to weigh fish must depart and return under their own power. Boats that are towed will be disqualified. 26. All boats enter must abide by USCG and NC laws and safety requirements. 27. Being a Captain’s Choice Tournament, in the event that the Tournament shall be rescheduled or cancelled due to any cause outside the control of Capt. Derek’s Cobia Classic, entry fees shall be refunded to entrants. 28. All fish must be caught on rod & reel. The maximum number of lines out at any one time is seven. 29. Electric kite reels are permitted. However, all fish that participants wish to weigh must be caught on a reel that is powered solely by human force. Please contact the tournament director at (704) 616-1615 if you or one of your crew members has a disability that does not allow them to physically reel in a weighable species. Only then can the tournament director permit an angler to use an assisted reel. 30. All members of Capt. Derek’s Cobia Clash have the right to refuse entry from any person or persons. If this situation arises, 100% of the entry will be returned to the entrant who originally paid for the tournaments. 31. By signing the entry form, the Captain and crew, etc. consent that Capt. Derek’s Cobia Clash may use any photographs in which he or she appears for any purpose whatsoever, including but not limited to resale, advertising, commercial or promotional material without payment. 32. Violation of any of the stated tournament rules can result in disqualification of the tournament. 33. This event is owned and directed by Capt. Derek Treffinger
