Cobia

Cobia are a hard fighting and great eating fish. They migrate into the southern NC waters in May and are most concentrated from mid May to late June. They are often caught as a bycatch of King Mackerel fishing as they are attracted to the smell of fish oil and chum. They can be targeted by live baiting around buoys or over wrecks as they patrol these structures feeding on small fish and crustaceans.
