Spadefish

Spadefish are prevalent off the southern NC coast from May through August. They are normally seen near the surface over wrecks or artificial reefs. They have uniqe black and white stripes, but don't let their docile behavior and good looks fool you. Spadefish are very strong when hooked and also very good to eat. However, the are hard to hook as they are very finicky, preferring jellyfish or clam strips.
