"Buffet" | Do Work / OIFC | 08/26/14

Capt. Jim Bowen submitted this picture of the seafood buffet he and his crew of the "Stick Slinger" caught.  Jim called & I missed the call.  Soon as I talk to him I'll add the particulars.  That is unless Jim wants to do it in the comment section.

"Jessica's first Redfish" | Tiberias - 22' | 08/26/14

Delane and Jessica joined me for a day of fishing this past Friday. We started off looking for flounder. We got a few bites and landed a solid 17 incher for the dinner table. Delane really wanted his wife Jessica to catch a redfish. Delane said that he had caught plenty of reds in the low country of South Carolina, but has struggled to catch any reds in our area. We made our move to find a few redfish. It didn't take long for a redfish to bend one of our rods. Jessica made quick work of a nice 22 inch red. The action was pretty steady in that area with us finally picking up a couple of upper slot reds. We made a move to another redfish hole, but the black drum were thick. Few large black drum have been around so far this year. Most of the black drum were around 13 inches. We did finally put a 14 incher in the boat for the dinner table. These fish are supper fun on ultra light tackle. See ya on the water!

Had a good afternoon catching Spanish on the beach. There were schools of them scattered all around the inlet. We just kept chasing the flocks of white birds down that were feeding over the Spanish. Sent from my iPhone

"OIFC BRINGS HOME THE GOLD" | Do Work / OIFC | 08/23/14

~~Checks and Tropies is the story for today. Me, Jeff Beck, and Stephen Tracy Lanier fished the Sheriff Ingram's Flatfish Roundup tournament and ended up placing 1st place Overall, 1st Place Calcutta, and 1st Place High Roller putting $1,800 in our pockets. Not a bad payout for a day of fishing and dodging storms. I would like to thank two key sponsors - Rickey Beck for providing our team with Capt. Rickey Snag-less Carolina Rigs with Ultra Stealthy Invisa-Line and most importantly the Founding Fathers of the United States of America which our team represented today!-Bonecrusher

Team Bonecrusher Do'ng Work For Team America consisting of OIFC Pro Staffer Brandon "Bonecrusher" Sauls, Capt. Jeff Beck and Crew Member of Team OIFC/Do Work joined forces to bring home the gold in The Sheriff Ingram Flatfish Round Up with a 5.62 lb flounder/19 lb aggrigate.

What a switch.  Bonecrusher cut his teeth as an off shore fisherman and Capt Jeff started as a flounder fisherman winning several in shore tournaments as Team Hook em Up.

They didn't bring home gold, but $1,800 ain't bad.  Congratulations

"Continuing the Journey" | | 08/22/14

Well, in honor of the Griswold family tradition, we are now visiting Dolly World. "Sorry folks the park is closed." We are riding all the rides and seeing all the shows. We are having a big time, but it is a bit tough to see the fishing getting so much better and to be so far from the coast. I'm ready to hear the reel scream from a big King Mackerel!

"Fish biting- boats open" | | 08/21/14

Well, just as the fishing is finally getting good, the charter boats are getting available. Our crews have hustled all Summer to make action amidst conditions that have often been less than great. But we managed and by most accounts, I'm certain 9 out of 10 would recommend fishing with us. HOWEVER- the fish are finally biting- Kings and Wahoo namely and we ARE NOT booked up. We have availability this weekend. Don't discount the inshore guys too- The big Bull Reds are starting and that's a bite not to miss! Call us at 910-575-3474 to set up a trip. Let's go fishing!! "They're back" | | 08/21/14

We had a great day of fishing today aboard the Carolina Cat. We started our morning by catching a live well full of 12 to 15 inch mullets in the waterway near the inlet. After we cleared the inlet and ran west for about 1/2 mile we saw a huge school of pogies getting bombarded by a few ravenous pelicans that were making them breakfast. Soon after we filled our other live wells with them and decided to give them all a ride out to 65 feet of water to see if we could capitalize on the information we had received from Capt. OC last night. We pulled up at our first spot and deployed a full spread and were soon rewarded with a king mackerel. We figured the fish that we had heard about must still be around and willing to bite but after several more passes without any results we decided to make a short move. At our next stop the action was fast and furious for the next few hours. At one point we were barely able to get one line out before we would get bit. We caught seven kings, with one being twenty five and one twenty eight and lost two or three big ones, along with a few sharks thrown in for good measure. It was good to hear the reels hit second and third gear on these fish's first runs. It sounded like October at the river channel out there today. So with the few days of stable south winds the fish have settled into where they are supposed to be in 65 feet of water. Go get'em!
