I had to post these pictures from yesterday of two of my favorite people, Donald and Catherine Clifton of the Carolina Cat. The folks log some hours on the ocean...Nice catch!!!
Plus a few random pix
Good job to OIFC teams for placing well. 6th and 8th overall: Team OIFC and On A Mission/OIFC. Also Hot Hooks, Mark Coley and Scott Quaintance from OIB in 9th
Team Do Work/OIFC didn't set with world on fire, only weighing in a 17.48 lb king. But it was a learning day for the youth aboard. Jacob Utley fought the fish and Camdyn actually gaffed it.....her 1st. I hope they get the big one today.
The 1st 2 pictures are by Ryan Stevens.
I am proud to day the top 4 Jr. Anglers are from Brunswick County. Three of the four attend Union Elementary School, one of the four just graduated from Union and attends Shallotte Elementary School and three of the four are on Team OIFC!!!!!
They are, left to right.:
Cayson Coley 2nd place
Brayden McMullan 3rd Place (tie)-Team OIFC
Caroline McMullan 3rd Place (tie)-Team OIFC
Camdyn Beck 1st Place Team Do Work/OIFC
Congratulations. And grown ups, get your children fishing!!!
The 1st two pictures are of Courtney Ripple Gray and her husband, the studly Tim Gray of Team Beeracuda. One is Courtney with her king she caught at Morehead and the other is with her driver. The final pictures are of Team Get Floor'd with some wahoo they caught Wednesday up there. By the way. The spot are running in Morehead.
Had to add Ryan Stevens and his king in the last picture. They are there folks!!!
Capt. Jeff and Capt. Rickey arrived in Morehead with the Do Work/OIFC Sunday afternoon just in time for the leaderboard posting of the Troopers Assoc. KMT. Along with Timmy Clemmons we went bait catching Monday and were joined by team mate Jay Utley Tuesday for some more bait catching. Pofies are thick along Emerald Isle beach in 8 to 20 ft. of water. You better have a good net. Theses boys are big and fast!!! Today (Wednesday), Capt. Rickey had to make an appointment in Wilmington while Jef, Jay and Jon Hayes did some fishing. They didn't fair too well but some other boat who were scouting did. The ocean about 20 miles out was a little bumpy.
I saw a ton (a NC Unit of Measurement) of boats on 17 headed to Morehead as I was leaving. Looks to be a good crown. I will be back up there tomorrow for the Captains' Dinner and hope to have some pics.
Congrats to all the teams that qualified to fish the SKA King Mackeral National Championship this weekend in Morehead City. Teams from all over the southern US will be participating and hopefully a NC team will continue the domination of this event. Brant and Amy are running the OIFC World Cat up there this morning[our Yellowfin got sold] and Rube/Barrett/Caroline/Brayden will join this evening. Our team is comprised of Grandpa Rube, sons Brant and wife Amy and Barrett, 10 year old Caroline and 6 year old Brayden; and cheerleaders Barretts wife Stephanie and kids Blakley and Annabelle.. This is the team that has won this thing 3 TIMES!. Wish us and all the other local teams luck!
West Brunswick High School Fish ing Team Members Joseph Holden and Joseph Robbins took 1st Place in the Trout Division with 3.10 lbs. The young men were fishing with Clay Morphis aboard the "Pork Chop". Congratulations!!!!!! History is made
