"Inshore Citation Red Drum" | Tiberias - 22' | 07/11/12

The inshore bite has been tough, but patience and persistence continues to pay dividends by the end of our trips. I was joined by the Howard group yesterday morning. We worked on a few small flounder, but never could find a keeper. We started working grass edges and docks to find a couple of red drum. My afternoon trip was cancelled due to mother nature's light show. We will get them Friday morning!

This morning I was joined by Rob, Ken, and Bill. We started this morning working the docks and found three hard fighting reds right off the bat. Problem? We broke two off in the pilings and pulled the hooks on the third at the boat. We made some adjustments and went to work...We ended up landing several more reds, trout, and black drum. Floating live shrimp under a cork was getting it done.

I was joined my Dale DeRemer and his crew this afternoon. We bottom bounced a few areas looking for a flounder bite...no such luck. We moved around and found some serious action! The red drum bite was on fire! We started hooking up two over the slot reds at a time. The action got really serious on our third double hook up. We landed a 27 inch fish pretty quickly, but John was still working hard trying to turn his fish. After several minutes of battling and wondering if we actually had a redfish or a stingray the fish surfaced. A GIANT REDFISH! The red drum headed deep again giving us several more minutes of fighting action. John landed the 42 inch brute! A quick picture and a long revival process for the release. The bite slowed and storms were approaching so we headed towards the house. One more quick stop to try for a flounder. John proves himself once again landed a nice flat fish. Somebody is eating good tonight. A huge thanks to all you guys for fishing with me! See ya on the water!

"Capt. Brant Returns To The Dock" | OIFC World Cat / Carolina Cat | 07/10/12

Captain Brant and 1st Mate Derrick were joined by Patrick, Lane (17), Patrick, Jr.(15) and Olivia (11) of Charlotte, N.C. on a 6 hr trip.  As seen below they caught an amberjack, cobia, mahi and king.  Somewhere in there is a spanish.  It seems that Patrick had the hot hand landing the majority of the catch.

A charter trip is a perfect way to spend a part of your family vacation.

"Pigg's World" | Get Busy | 07/08/12

Steve Pigg wrote in and  wanted to let everyone  know his son Branson Pigg caught his first flounder this past weekend, and it was the biggest catch of the week! He snagged this 21 incher at the deep hole at the second entrance into the canals. He was fishing a carolina rig (purchased at OIFC) with a pogie. Steve attached a picture of the catch and the dinner displaying that the flounder did not go to waste.
