August is upon us and we have experienced some of the warmest days of the season this week. The water temperatures start off around 80 in the morning and nearly reaching 90 degrees in the afternoon. The water color conditions have been less than favorable all season. We continue to grind it out finding a few fish willing to bite. Live mullet minnows have shown up by the thousands and plenty of shrimp can be found in the creeks. The table has been set...the question remains...will the fish show up at chow time. Here are some hightlights from the last few trips. See ya on the water!
If you've visited the OIFC in the past 5 years, you have almost certainly met Anita. I am trying to think of her job title/description, but it was pretty much doing whatever needed to be done + being a darn good graphic design artist. Anita has been responsible for the OIFCs great graphics that have been presented on apparel, brochures and web art.
As I said to her and to our great OIFC staff, nothing stays the same; and although the transition we face in losing Anita will mean hard work, the OIFC will face the challenge and work hard to maintain quality.
Farewell to Anita and good luck to her in future endeavours.
And sooooooo....... I am looking for someone to help fill the void of "fishy" graphic design artist for the OIFC. It is a part-time position that does not require working from the OIFC. If you have interest in doing some graphics work for the OIFC or know someone who may, please email email@example.com
Thanks and best wishes to Anita. Tuesday the 20th will be her last scheduled day at the OIFC.
The picture is of a 13 ft tiger shark brought along side the boat yesterday at Rock Star Sholes near the Cape Fear River. The shark hit a pogey rig. The anglers, Tony Crumpler & Anthony Cleg fought it for about 45 minutes. They released Jaws no worse for the wear.
This is a photo of the 38 lb. Wahoo caught by Mary Kwiatkowski and Andrew Horbaly, both of Charlottesville, VA.
They were on Board with Capt. Stan and first mate Matt on Wednesday, 7-31-13.
Thank ya'll for fishing with us folks!!
