"Jolly Mon VIP" | Catch All | 06/16/16

The second annual Jolly Mon VIP is officially in the books. Despite choppy conditions and bites from big kings being few and far between, most all of the 60 boat field caught fish. Congratulations to team Reel Methods captained by Pete Peterson on their 21lb king that earned them top honors in the VIP. Not only did they win this event yet they also won the Big Fish TWT prize. As the director for this tournament, I would like to thank everyone for coming out and participating in this event. Without avid, competitive anglers like those who participated yesterday, events such as the VIP would not be possible. With a little help from a better class of fish, I hope to make next year’s VIP only bigger and better.

1st - Pete Peterson - 21lbs

1st - Big Fish TWT

2nd - Aaron Wilkinson - 14lbs

3rd - Scott Smith - 13lbs

***  NOTE FROM CAPT. BRANT ***

I really hate the fishing was so sour yesterday.  It was as painful to watch as I'm sure it was to fish.  We all say "it's fishing", but that was as poor as I've seen in my memory.  But, thanks to most all of you for keeping a good attitude and pushing through.  The VIP consists of boats of all sizes, so that has to be taken into consideration when choosing spots to fish.  Thanks again, and I hope you will find time to bring your family out to the Jolly Mon festivities tomorrow eve from 5-8pm at the Ocean Isle Fishing Center --Capt. Brant

Capt Brant plugging back in to Carolina fishing. I'm on the road pulling boat back to OIB. Team OIFC had a good showing at gulf coast billfish classic weighing the 4th and 10th largest yellowfin tuna- 157 and 135. We got a little check for the effort and learned a ton. But now it's Jolly Mon time! VIP Wednesday so we gotta figure out where to find some fish. Stay tuned! Capt. Brant McMullan
