> > Fall fishing with my son Austin and friend Mike. Loaded up the boat and went in search for some meat for the freezer. Broke Shallotte inlet and headed towards Holden beach to find bait and one throw of the net and Mike loaded up the livewell with nice size pogies. Got everything cleaned up and headed offshore to about 70’ of water where everything looked fishy, put the spread out and trolled around all the other boats in the same area with the same idea. We had a couple short strikes that just missed the hooks, and we finally got one on and she ran about 150 yds before Austin finally got her turned and the fight was on, 15 minutes later Mike stuck the gaff in her and she was in the box. After 4 more nice size kings and a dozen shark we headed inshore to scout for Black Bass, caught a couple keepers, but mostly too small to keep. The weather and the company was great. Love making those memories. Thanks, Scott
Garrett Holden and I started out near the OIB pier catching bait, watching all the drum fisherman and dodging rain drops. A window of opportunity opened and we ran at 30 knots on slick seas to the 90’s. There were about 10 boats there and before I could get the third bait out we had two lines screaming. The boys did great battling with some quality fish which we gaffed and then we high fived. A small squall came up, the wind shifted and we decided to head to the canals at OIB. While it was a short trip we all had fun and have special memories. -By Keith Williams
Thanks for the report Keith
