What if the weather is bad?

Capt. Brant's Fishing Adventures is dedicated to offering you the best fishing experience possible. If the weather conditions are deemed unsafe or not conducive to offering a good opportunity to catch fish, the Captain will cancel the trip. If the fishing conditions are neither unsafe or unfishable but could potentially cause problems for the party, the Captain will thouroughly explain the circumstances and leave it up to the party to decide if they would feel comfortable in the conditions.

What if the trip is cancelled due to bad weather?

If the trip is cancelled due to bad weather, you will be given an opportunity to reschedule the trip for an available date or you will be given a 100% refund.

What can I do to avoid sea sickness?

There is no cure-all for sea sickness. Some are naturally more prone than others. I suggest you take a Dramamine motion sickness pill with dinner the evening prior to your fishing trip and then 1/2 of a pill with a light breakfast on the morning of your trip. Taking more pills WILL NOT be any more effective and will cause you to be very drowsy and lethargic

What should I bring?

You are responsible for brining your own personal items such as food and drink (and a cooler to store them in), hats, sunscreen...All fishing equipment and related fishing items will be provided. Suggested items to bring include a small cooler with food and drink for the trip, hat, sunscreen, wind breaker, non-skid shoes.

Who cleans the fish?

If you are interested in keeping fish to eat, Capt. Brant's Fishing Adventures will gladly clean your catch within reasonable limits. If you choose to load the freezer for the next millenium, a cleaning charge of $.25/pound will be offered.

What happens if I get sea sick?

Despite how you may feel, it is not the end of the world. The best thing you can do is to stay in the fresh air. If you feel like you will vomit, it is best to go ahead as you will feel dramatically better afterwards. If you do not wish to endure the sea sickness, you can instruct the Captain to take you back at any time. This is your trip and you make the call. Your crew is there for your pleasure and comfort.

Can we let the fish go after we catch them?

Absolutely. We encourage catch and release. If you do not intend to eat the fish it will be released unharmed to bite another day.

Who does the catch belong to?

Whatever you catch on your fishing trip belongs to you. You can certainly offer extra fish to your crew, but it is certainly your decision.

I've never been deep sea fishing before. What trip should I take?

That all depends on your level of comfort with the ocean. Below is a description of each trip, which range from 2 hours up to 13 hours.  Your decision on which trip to take should be based on your comfort level on the ocean, specific species you desire, amount of time you are willing to commit and amount of money you are willing to commit.  The time and money parts are self explanatory.  The species you desire are described within each trip.  You will want to decide how important it is to catch fish to take home to eat versus simply catching fish, regardless of food quality.  Sometimes you can have both, but sometimes fishing is great for species like Barracuda or Shark which put up a great fight but are not kept for eating.  Finally your comfort level is totally up to you.  On the 2 hour KIDS TRIP and 1/2 day near shore trip you'll stay within sight of land.  If you have concerns over how you're body will handle being on the ocean, choose a shorter trip.  This way if find out you just aren't cut out for deep-sea fishing, you can get home quick.  Or, you can also choose inshore fishing where you don't even go into the ocean.  Anyway, like everything in life, its all give and take.  Typically the longer time you commit to a fishing trip, the better the fishing will be.  So look it over, decide what trip(s) you have interest in and give us a call to discuss- (910) 575-3474

Deep Sea

KIDS TRIP, 2 hours-  A very introductory fishing, boating, and sight-seeing experience that keeps you within sight of land and may range as far as 3 miles offshore.  Total fishing time is roughly and hour which gives enough time to see the ocean, get a feel for being on a boat and of course, catch fish.  The trip will offer bottom fishing for Sea Bass, Sea Bream and other small bottom fish.  It is very common to see Dolphins on this trip.

½  day near shore, 4 hours- This trip will keep you within sight of land, typically fishing out to 5 miles offshore.  Total fishing time is roughly 3 hours.  The trip typically includes trolling for Spanish Mackerel and Bluefish, bottom fishing for Sea Bass and Shark drifting.

TARGETED SPECIES:  Sea Bass, Spanish Mackerel, Bluefish, Shark

½ day offshore, 6 hours-  This trip will typically range out to 20 miles offshore.  Total fishing time is roughly 4 ½ hours.  This trip typically utilizes live bait, slow trolling to target top-water trophy game fish.

TARGETED SPECIES:  King Mackerel, Barracuda, Shark, Mahi, Cobia, Sailfish, Amberjack

¾ day offshore, 8 hours-  This trip will typically range out to 35 miles offshore.  Total fishing time is roughly 5 ½  hours, not much more than the ½ day offshore trip, but you will be fishing grounds that are much more productive.  This trip typically includes an option of live bait, slow trolling to target top-water trophy game fish or bottom fishing to target great eating bottom fish.

TARGETED SPECIES:  King Mackerel, Barracuda, Shark, Mahi, Cobia, Sailfish, Amberjack, Snapper, Grouper, Sea Bass

Full day offshore, 10 hours-  This trip will typically range out to 50 miles offshore.  Total fishing time is roughly 7 hours.  You will be fishing the most productive fishing grounds the area has to offer.  The trip typically includes live bait, slow trolling to target top-water trophy game fish with an option to also target great eating bottom fish as well.  If you are particularly interested in Snapper and Grouper, this it the trip you need to take.

TARGETED SPECIES:  Grouper, Snapper, King Mackerel, Barracuda, Shark, Mahi, Cobia, Sailfish

Gulf Stream trolling and jigging, 14 hours-  This trip will take you to the edge of the Gulf Stream and continental shelf, over 60 miles offshore where you will likely encounter some of the biggest, strongest and best eating game fish in the ocean.  Total fishing time is roughly 9 hours.  The trip typically includes trolling to target top-water trophy game fish with an option to also deep-water, vertical jig for big bottom fish.  This trip is for serious fishermen as the ride offshore will take 2-3 hours.  However, the bounty of the Gulf Stream can be very rewarding.

TARGETED SPECIES:  Tuna, Wahoo, Mahi, Sailfish, Marlin, Grouper, Snapper, Amberjack

INSHORE

½ day, 4 hours- A beginner to intermediate trip that focuses fishing the Intracoastal waterway and backwater creeks.  This trip not only offers the opportunity to catch redfish, trout and flounder, it also offers a great scenic tour of the area’s marshes and wildlife.

Full day, 7 hours-  This trip is more advanced and is suited for the fisherman looking to explore and learn more about the area’s backwaters as well as have the best chance at catching redfish, trout and flounder.  When considering the full day inshore trip, remember that you are never very far from land and thus bathroom breaks and lunch breaks are not a problem.

Do you take children?

Yes. Children are welcome on board the boats. It is your discretion as to whether you think a child is suitable for the environment.
